Girls hoops swarms West Perry to get back to .500

Greencastle-Antrim 50, West Perry 22: The Blue Devils used a strong defensive effort to limit the Mustangs to single digits in each quarter and produced a Mid Penn Colonial victory in Elliottsburg on Thursday night.

Greencastle (4-4, 1-3 MPC) used pressure, both full-court and in the half court to rattle West Perry (2-5, 1-3 MPC). It limited the Mustangs’ open looks and led to quite a few transition baskets at the other end.

G-A coach Scott McKeever said, “We finally had back-to-back practices and we were able to put in some new stuff and work on the old. All of that really made a difference. The girls are getting better and making changes during the game and it really showed tonight.”

The Blue Devils put three players in double figures. Ellie Bigler came up with 14 points (11 in the first half), Sophie Fries totaled 12 and Callie Izer contributed 10. Braelyn Cordell and Kiersten Swain each scored 5.
