Here’s the Mid-Penn girls basketball All-Under-the-Radar team

Plenty of Mid-Penn basketball stars have lived up to preseason hype.

But what about the players that few pegged as impact players? What about the players who emerged from the shadows to become big-time contributors?

We’re taking a look at five of those girls basketball players, with PennLive’s All-Under-the-Radar team so far this season. These might not be the top scorers or rebounders in the conference, but instead the players who have exceeded expectations from the outside looking in.

Ava London, Susquehanna Township

Position: Guard

Buzz: No doubt there were high expectations coming in for the freshman and London has answered the call with her versatile and unselfish play. Not only is the 5-foot-7 guard posting 11.9 points per outing, London has ripped down 60 rebounds and contributed 53 assists. She also leads 14-1 Hanna with 56 steals.

Eva Martin, Greencastle-Antrim

Position: Guard

Buzz: As a freshman, Martin stepped right into the lineup in G-A’s opener at Bermudian Springs in December and delivered 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. And the 5-foot-3 guard has been a consistent force ever since. Martin’s 10.7 points are second-best for the 11-5 Blue Devils and she’s dished out 26 assists with 27 steals.

Addi Salus, Palmyra

Position: Guard

Buzz: In case you missed it, the Cougars are a robust 13-2 on the season and well-placed near to the top of the District 3 5A rankings. Salus, a sophomore, has been a key figure in that success. The guard paces Palmyra at 13.4 points per game and has done blue-collar work on the boards, as well. Salus also leads the Cougars in steals.

Siena Wilson, State College

Position: Guard

Buzz: Talk about first impressions. The 5-foot-7 freshman ended her first varsity start in December with a steal and game-winning bucket in overtime vs. Loyalsock. Now, Wilson is among the team leaders in most categories. The rookie is averaging 10.7 points per game and has contributed more than 60 rebounds and 35 steals for the 12-5 Little Lions.

Maycee Yanoski, Mechanicsburg

Position: Guard

Buzz: Yanoski was a factor on Mechanicsburg’s ride to District 3 bronze and the state tournament last year. However, the physical 5-foot-7 guard has seriously upped her game for the hot-running Wildcats this season. Through Mechanicsburg’s 12-4 start, Yanoski is second on the team in points (9.4 ppg.), has pulled in more than 60 rebounds and leads the squad in assists and steals.
