Blue Devils Down Big Spring in OT on Senior NIght

Greencastle-Antrim 43, Big Spring 36, OT: It took an extra period, but the Blue Devils prevailed over the Bulldogs in a Mid Penn Colonial matchup on Senior Night on Friday night in Greencastle.

Kylie Kern played a huge role for Greencastle (12-5, 8-3 MPC), scoring 8 points in the fourth quarter and hitting another 3-pointer to open the overtime session. Eva Martin and Haley Noblit both hit a pair of free throws to put G-A in charge.

The teams were tied 15-15 at halftime, with Greencastle’s man defense matching Big Spring’s 3-2 zone, which held G-A to 5-for-27 shooting in the first half (3-19 from 3-point range).

At the end of regulation, the Blue Devils led by 2 and had fouls to give. They tried to foul, but the Bulldogs came out of a scramble and got a shot off that found the basket to tie the game as the clock wound down.

Kerns scored a career-high 17 points and added 6 rebounds. Noblit had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals, Ainsley Swindell had 4 points, 9 boards and 4 steals, and Martin had 4 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Greencastle celebrated its four seniors — Noblit, Swindell, Aubrey Smith and Mary Murray.
