A team effort enabled the Blue Devils to hold off a good Eagles team in a non-league matchup Saturday night.
Haley Noblit scored 11 of her 15 points in the first half, and when Bermudian went to a triangle-and-2 defense in the second half, Mia Libby broke loose for 11 of her 16 points. Sayge Wilhide was 4-for-4 at the line in the final 30 seconds as the Eagles (10-5) got within 4 points twice, and Lauren Pool had 6 points and hauled down 17 rebounds.
“It is nice to see us getting our confidence back after two tough losses,” G-A coach Mike Rhine said. “To then be able to use that confidence to defeat a quality opponent like Bermudian Springs just tops off a nice two-victory weekend. While each of the girls who played contributed, it was nice to see Mia have a breakout second half, and between that and having Lauren fight for every rebound it allowed us to get a second-quarter lead and then maintain it throughout the last 2 1/2 quarters.”
Libby added 7 rebounds and 6 assists, and held Bermudian’s leading scorer, Hannah Chenault, to 4 points. Also for Greencastle (10-3), Wilhide had 8 points and 5 rebounds and Noblit had 3 assists and 3 steals
