Jenay Faulkner - Women's Basketball Set To Begin Season At UMass Lowell

HOLY CROSS OPENS THE 2017-2018 SEASON AT UMASS LOWELL
• The Holy Cross women’s basketball team is set to begin its 2017-2018 season on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders take on UMass Lowell on the road.
• Sunday’s game will be streamed live via ESPN3 (espn.com/watch) online, and will also be broadcast on Emmanuel Radio (1230 AM | 1230radio.com) with Bob Fouracre on play-by-play.

 

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
• The Crusaders finished their 2016-2017 campaign with an overall record of 8-22, and a 6-12 mark in the Patriot League.
• Holy Cross was eliminated by Lafayette in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex in Worcester.
• The Crusaders had two student-athletes (Infiniti Thomas-Waheed and Lauren Manis) complete the year averaging double-digit points per game.
• Lauren Manis was named the 2016-2017 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, while Katie Dohertyearned Academic All-Patriot League honors.

• The Crusaders are 7-3 all-time against UMass Lowell.
• Holy Cross last met the River Hawks during the 2016-2017 season, when the Crusaders won 62-47 in Worcester.

• Freshman Jenay Faulkner also finished the game in double-digits, adding 12 points along with a game-high four steals and four rebounds. 
• Sophomore Kathryn Pedi notched nine points while shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. 
• Sophomore Nicole Morris posted a game-high four assists while scoring six points and adding a pair of steals. 
• The Crusaders made 46.8% of their field goal attempts, while holding the Greyhounds to just 27.3% shooting. 
• Holy Cross held the advantage in rebounds, 37-32, and posted nine steals with five blocks on the defensive side of the ball.

 

SCOUTING REPORT ON UMASS LOWELL

 

• UMass Lowell began its 2017-2018 season on Friday night, falling to Rhode Island by a score of 64-81in Kingston, R.I.
• The River Hawks went 3-26 overall with an 0-16 record in America East during the 2016-2017 season.
• Paula Lopez led UMass Lowell with 19 points in the first game of the season.
• Kayla Gibbs was the leading rebounder for the River Hawks in the loss with nine, and also had a strong night offensively with 17 points scored.
• Head coach Jenerrie Harris is currently in her fourth year coaching the River Hawks.
• UMass Lowell is in its first season of eligibility for the NCAA Tournament, having become a Division I program prior to the 2013-2014 season.
