When a pair of ranked teams dropped PIAA first-round games last week, this week’s PennLive Class 3A girls’ basketball state rankings got a bit of a facelift.
With season-ending setbacks, we had to wave goodbye to District 2 champ Abington Heights and District 9 winner Punxsutawney.
And we elevated a pair of District 3 squads into the top 10: Runner-up Berks Catholic and third-seed Greencastle-Antrim; the Saints and the Blue Devils both spent a good chunk of the season inside our top 10, and they’re both back, heading into Wednesday’s PIAA second-round games.
The top eight teams remained the same after they all won first-round PIAA games; District 10 champ Villa Maria (26-0) remains the lone undefeated team in the lot. And the 3A classification also features the team with the most victories in the state: District 3 champ Lancaster Catholic is 29-1.
