Change can be a good thing.
And we made a few changes in this week’s PennLive girls’ basketball Class 3A state rankings.
It’s the same top 10 as last week, but after five ranked teams suffered losses last week — yep, five — we had to cut and paste and come up with a new running order.
But we’re sticking with that 10 — with 1-loss clubs Northern Lebanon and Southern Lehigh and several 2-loss squads knocking at the door — at least for another week.
Yeah, we just said change can be a good thing. But we're not quite ready to pull the trigger and change up this 10.
Here was the damage last week: South Fayette lost to Class 2A No. 4 Bishop Canevin; Trinity lost to South Fayette; Hickory suffered its first loss this season to Slippery Rock; Blackhawk lost to Beaver Area; and South Park fell to Brownsville.
Craziness.
District 3 heavyweights Greencastle-Antrim and Lancaster Catholic, who have just one loss apiece, bumped up a few spots, as did undefeated Danville, as we continue to reward the hot teams with the playoffs approaching.
We decided to keep South Fayette on the 3-line — Lions’ losses are vs. Bethel Park, Peters Twp. and Canevin, who are a combined 47-9 — while Trinity, Hickory and Blackhawk all dipped a few spots.
Archbishop Wood, which hits this week riding a 10-game winning streak, remained at No. 1, while undefeated Villa Maria held steady at No. 2.
