Players to watch in the upcoming District 3-AAA girls' basketball playoffs

The District 3-AAA girls’ basketball playoffs are on tap, with 16 teams ready to do battle this week.
 

In honor of those 16 teams, here are 16 players to watch ...

 

Kari Lankford, West York — Shepherd recruit and 1,000-point scorer makes the undefeated Bulldogs tick.

 

Devon Merritt, Berks Catholic — Glass-crasher averages team-best 17.3 points for height-happy Saints.

 

Caitlyn Lavenberg, West Perry — Scored 21 points, drilled five 3’s in Mid-Penn semis vs. Cumberland Valley. Heart and soul of the reigning champs.

 

Jenay Faulkner, Greencastle-Antrim — Super soph averaging 17.4 points with 58 3’s for Colonial champ Blue Devils.

 

Caroline Scarff, Lancaster Catholic — Crusaders’ post threat averages 14.7 points, and the junior is up to 895 career points.

 

Kristen Stark, Donegal — Indians’ senior leader is slithery on the boards and fantastic in transition.

 

Hannah Racis, Conrad Weiser — Can score (13.6, 16 3’s) and especially defend for the Scouts.

 

Cyre Virgo, Fleetwood — Athletic and graceful post averages 13.7 points for Tigers.

 

Claudia Mingora, York Suburban — Provides points (13.6) and senior leadership for the Trojans.

 

Miranda Hoover, Susquenita — 1,000-point scorer can beat you inside and out for Blackhawks.

 

Payton Hauck, Northeastern — Boston U. recruit drops 13 points per game for Bobcats.

 

Tori Schultz, Lampeter-Strasburg — Hit for double digits in 21 of 22 games for Pioneers, and is scoring at a 17.3 clip in last four games.

 

Dani Kreiger, East PennsboroCaution: Flammable. Averaging 14.4 points with 10 3’s in last five games for the Panthers.

 

Zoe Zerman, Northern Lebanon — Breakout soph season includes 14.6 points, floor leadership for Vikings.

 

Jennae Piper, James Buchanan — Rockets’ sniper averages 11.7 points and has 38 3’s to spark perimeter game.

 

Bianca Jasper, Middletown — Red-hot finish for Blue Raiders’ point, averaging 15.4 points with 11 3’s in last five games.
